1. Dhikr 1 of 12 · Once

   When mounting a vehicle

   بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ للَّهِ ﴿سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ، وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ﴾، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي؛ فَإِنَّهُ لاَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ

   Bismil-lah, walhamdu lillah, subhanal-lathee sakhkhara lana hatha wama kunna lahu muqrineen, wainna ila rabbina lamunqaliboon, alhamdu lillah, alhamdu lillah, alhamdu lillah, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, subhanakal-lahumma innee thalamtu nafsee faghfir lee fainnahu la yaghfiruth-thunooba illa ant.

   In the name of Allah, and all praise is for Allah. Glory be to Him who has subjected this to us, for we could never have done it by ourselves, and indeed to our Lord we shall return. All praise is for Allah, all praise is for Allah, all praise is for Allah; Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. Glory be to You, O Allah, I have wronged myself, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.

2. Dhikr 2 of 12 · Once

   The travel supplication

   اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، ﴿سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ * وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ﴾ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى، وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى، اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ، وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الأَهْلِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ، وَكَآبَةِ الْمَنْظَرِ، وَسُوءِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ فِي الْمَالِ وَالأَهْلِ

   (Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, subhanal-lathee sakhkhara lana hatha wama kunna lahu muqrineen, wa-inna ila rabbina lamunqaliboon, allahumma inna nas-aluka fee safarina hatha albirra wattaqwa, waminal-'amali ma tarda, allahumma hawwin 'alayna safarana hatha, watwi 'anna bu'dah, allahumma antas-sahibu fis-safar, walkhaleefatu fil-ahl, allahumma innee a'oothu bika min wa'tha-is-safar, waka-abatil-manthar, wasoo-il-munqalabi fil-mali wal-ahl.)(upon returning the same supplication is recited with the following addition: (Ayiboona, ta-iboona, 'abidoona, lirabbina hamidoon.))

   Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. Glory be to Him who has subjected this to us, for we could never have done it by ourselves, and indeed to our Lord we shall return. O Allah, we ask You on this journey of ours for righteousness and piety, and for deeds that please You. O Allah, make this journey easy for us and fold up its distance for us. O Allah, You are the Companion on the journey and the Guardian of the family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardship of travel, from a distressing sight, and from an ill return to wealth and family.

   NoteOn returning, say the same and add: we return, repenting, worshipping, and praising our Lord.

3. Dhikr 3 of 12 · Once

   Entering a town or city

   Listen

   اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ السَّمَوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَمَا أَظْلَلْنَ، وَرَبَّ الأَرَضِينَ السَّبْعِ وَمَا أَقْلَلْنَ، وَرَبَّ الشَّياطِينِ وَمَا أَضْلَلْنَ، وَرَبَّ الرِّيَاحِ وَمَا ذَرَيْنَ، أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ هَذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ، وَخَيْرَ أَهْلِهَا، وَخَيْرَ مَا فِيهَا، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا، وَشَرِّ أَهْلِهَا، وَشَرِّ مَا فِيهَا

   Allahumma rabbas-samawatis-sab'i wama athlaln, warabbal-aradeenas-sab'i wama aqlaln, warabbash-shayateeni wama adlaln, warabbar-riyahi wama tharayn, as-aluka khayra hathihil-qaryah, wakhayra ahlilha wakhayra ma feeha, wa-a'oothu bika min sharriha washarri ahliha, washarri ma feeha.

   O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and all they shade, Lord of the seven earths and all they carry, Lord of the devils and all they misguide, and Lord of the winds and all they scatter: I ask You for the good of this town, the good of its people and the good of what is in it, and I seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil of its people and the evil of what is in it.

4. Dhikr 4 of 12 · Once

   Entering the market

   Listen

   لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ، وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ، وَهُوَ حَيٌّ لاِ يَمُوتُ، بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ، وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

   La ilaha illal-lah, wahdahu la shareeka lah, lahul-mulku walahul-hamd, yuhyee wayumeetu wahuwa hayyun la yamoot, biyadihil-khayru wahuwa 'ala kulli shayin qadeer.

   None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner; to Him belongs the sovereignty and the praise. He gives life and causes death, and He is Ever-Living and does not die. In His hand is all good, and He is over all things able.

   VirtueWhoever says it in the market, Allah records for him a million good deeds, erases a million bad deeds, and raises him a million degrees.

5. Dhikr 5 of 12 · Once

   When the vehicle stumbles

   Listen

   بِسْمِ اللَّهِ

   Bismil-lah.

   In the name of Allah.

6. Dhikr 6 of 12 · Once

   The traveller's farewell to those staying

   Listen

   أَسْتَوْدِعُكُمُ اللَّهَ الَّذِي لاَ تَضِيعُ وَدَائِعُهُ

   Astawdi'ukumul-lah, allathee la tadee'u wada-i'uh.

   I leave you in the care of Allah, whose trusts are never lost.

7. Dhikr 7 of 12 · Once

   Farewell to a traveller

   Listen

   أَسْتَوْدِعُ اللَّهَ دِينَكَ، وَأَمَانَتَكَ، وَخَوَاتِيمَ عَمَلِكَ

   Astawdi'ul-laha deenak, wa-amanatak, wakhawateema 'amalik.

   I entrust to Allah your religion, your trust and the ends of your deeds.

8. Dhikr 8 of 12 · Once

   Farewell to a traveller

   Listen

   زَوَّدَكَ اللَّهُ التَّقْوَى، وَغَفَرَ ذَنْبَكَ، وَيَسَّرَ لَكَ الخَيْرَ حَيْثُ ما كُنْتَ

   Zawwadakal-lahut-taqwa, waghafara thanbak, wayassara lakal-khayra haythuma kunt.

   May Allah provide you with piety, forgive your sins, and make good easy for you wherever you are.

9. Dhikr 9 of 12 · Once

   Takbir and tasbih on the journey

   Listen

   كُنَّا إِذَا صَعَدْنَا كَبَّرْنَا، وَإِذَا نَزَلْنَا سَبَّحْنَا

   Allahu akbar (ascending). Subhanal-lah (descending).

   Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: when we went up we would say Allah is the Greatest, and when we went down we would say glory be to Allah.

10. Dhikr 10 of 12 · Once

    The traveller's supplication at dawn

    سَمَّعَ سَامِعٌ بِحَمْدِ اللَّهِ، وَحُسْنِ بَلاَئِهِ عَلَيْنَا، رَبَّنَا صاحِبْنَا، وَأَفْضِلْ عَلَيْنَا، عَائِذاً بِاللَّهِ مِنَ النَّارِ

    Sami'a sami'un bihamdil-lahi wahusni bala-ihi 'alayna. Rabbana sahibna wa-afdil 'alayna 'a-ithan billahi minan-nar.

    Let a witness bear witness to our praise of Allah for His favours and His fine bounty upon us. Our Lord, accompany us and bestow Your favour upon us; I seek refuge in Allah from the Fire.

11. Dhikr 11 of 12 · Once

    When stopping at a place

    Listen

    أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

    a'oothu bikalimatil-lahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq.

    I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.

    VirtueWhoever stops at a place and says it, nothing will harm him until he leaves that place.

12. Dhikr 12 of 12 · Once

    Returning from a journey

    لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ، وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، آيِبُونَ، تَائِبُونَ، عَابِدُونَ، لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ، صَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَعْدَهُ، وَنَصَرَ عَبْدَهُ، وَهَزَمَ الأَحْزَابَ وَحْدَهُ

    La ilaha illal-lahu wahdahu la shareeka lah, lahul-mulku walahul-hamd, wahuwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadeer, ayiboona ta'iboona 'abidoona lirabbina hamidoon, sadaqal-lahu wa'dah, wanasara 'abdah, wahazamal-ahzaba wahdah.

    None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner; to Him belongs the sovereignty and the praise, and He is over all things able. We return, repenting, worshipping, and praising our Lord. Allah fulfilled His promise, gave victory to His servant, and alone defeated the confederates.
